Chrome extension

Chrome extension

Let Aurora work in your own Chrome, on the sites where you are already signed in.

The Vacarme extension lets Aurora, the Vacarme agent, work in your own Chrome, on the sites where you are already signed in. There is nothing to connect inside Vacarme. Your sessions stay in your browser.

Your own browser
Works with Chrome and Chrome-based browsers, from Chrome 116.
A closed list of actions
The app never sends code to the extension. It can only ask for actions from a closed list.
Your secrets stay yours
The extension never reads your passwords, your cookies or the storage of the sites you visit.

Install the extension

From the Chrome Web Store

Coming soon. The Chrome Web Store listing is not public yet. Until then, install the alpha version by hand.

Alpha version: manual install

The alpha extension needs the latest version of the Vacarme app. Update the app first.

Download the alpha extension (zip)

Download the extension

Download the zip file with the button above.

Unzip it in a permanent place

Pick a folder you will keep. Chrome loads the extension from this folder: if you move or delete it, the extension stops working.

Open the extensions page

In Chrome, type chrome://extensions in the address bar and press Enter.

Turn on Developer mode

Use the Developer mode switch at the top right of the page.

Load the folder

Click Load unpacked, then select the unzipped folder.

Pin the extension

Click the puzzle icon in the Chrome toolbar, then the pin next to Vacarme. Its icon stays in view.

Open Vacarme. During onboarding, at the Chrome extension step, Vacarme detects the extension automatically. You see it go from installed, to linked, to ready. Nothing to connect by hand.

Onboarding already done? Open Settings, then the Chrome link. Detection works the same way.

During setup, it only reads

Until onboarding is finished, the extension stays in setup mode:

  • It can't post, click or start a task.
  • It reads only the pages of the sources you chose for your voice.
  • It reads only your own content, once, in front of you.

The side panel shows a Setup badge during this phase.

After setup

Once onboarding is done, Aurora can work in your Chrome. You keep control at every step.

A tab group you can see
Aurora opens her tabs in a tab group named Vacarme. You can see everything she does.
Permission per site
For each site, you decide: allow once, allow always, or refuse. An "all sites" mode also exists.
Sensitive sites stay blocked
Banks, health, government services and other sensitive sites stay blocked, unless you explicitly accept responsibility.
LinkedIn, Reddit and X
Aurora never posts on them without your approval.
Sign-ins and checks
A sign-in, a CAPTCHA or a verification? Aurora never tries to solve it. She asks you.
Stop at any time
Click Stop Aurora in the side panel, or Cancel on the debugging banner Chrome shows at the top of the window.

The side panel

The side panel mirrors your chat with Aurora, so you can follow her from Chrome. Her drafts are there too, ready to copy.

Without Chrome

Vacarme still works without the extension:

  • Direct publishing posts through official connections, without a browser.
  • The app's built-in browser handles public research.
  • At the voice step of onboarding, paste a few of your texts instead.

See First-time setup for each step.

Troubleshooting

Vacarme doesn't detect the extension
  • Check that the Vacarme app is open.
  • Check that you have the latest version of the app.
  • In Vacarme settings, check that the Chrome link is turned on.
  • Restart Chrome.
The Setup badge stays
The extension stays in setup mode until onboarding is finished. Finish onboarding in Vacarme and the badge goes away.
A site is refused
Permission is set per site. If you refused a site, allow it for that site and try again.
